Our Story

Free Spirit was born from a deep love of the outdoors and the freedom we’ve always found there.

For generations our family has worked in footwear, building over 50 years of experience designing shoes made for comfort, quality and lasting wear. But long before Free Spirit became a brand, the outdoors had always been part of who we are.

Living on the edge of the Peak District, we’ve always been surrounded by landscapes that invite you to step outside. Weekends have long been spent walking winding trails, climbing hills and enjoying the quiet freedom that comes from being out in the open air.

That same sense of adventure has taken us to the coast too. Time spent sailing along wild shorelines, feeling the wind and watching the endless horizon, has only deepened our connection to the natural world and the freedom it gives us.

Over time it became clear that the life we loved living and the footwear we were creating were naturally connected. We wanted to design something that captured that same feeling of freedom — footwear that could move easily between coastal paths, countryside trails and everyday adventures.

And so Free Spirit was born.

Our sandals are built on decades of footwear expertise, but they’re inspired by something much simpler — the belief that life feels better when you’re free to explore.
